The past two weeks I’ve been working on something new. One of our clients is going through a crisis. Not so good for the client, but it’s giving me the opportunity to experience a bit of crisis communications at work. We had an hour long call with the client last week to go over everything that is going on and our possible approaches to the situation. We then worked on a list of materials that we would need to produce for the client during this crisis.
Crisis communications can definitely be stressful. It means a large amount of work in a short amount of time. My manager even worked over 40 hours this past weekend on this one particular account!
So because this is a crisis and not all the information has been released yet to the public, I am not really able to talk about what is going on or what I’ve been working out exactly. It’s kind of cool to think that you know information you’re not allowed to talk to anyone about because employees of that company don’t even know yet!
I’ve been doing a lot of monitoring sentiment of social media posts and articles about this client. I did get to do a little writing yesterday too. I got to write a bio for someone that will be featured on this client’s website once the information is released. I never thought that I would like crisis communication but from what I’m seeing so far, I definitely don’t hate it either.
